This forum has stories of grandparents while getting financial support.
The purpose of this forum is to tell your story, the way you have experienced the process.
The stories you tell are visible to the general public.
This allows all Kiwis to see what grandparents have to go through in order to get financial support.
Or not get any support whatsoever even if they are entitled to support according to the law.
From our own experience we know how infuriating , exhausting and sometimes outrageous the process can be to get financial support even if the law says you are entitled.
In most cases this comes down to plain ignorance or maliciousness of the staff involved.
WINZ staff have clear directives from the CEO to act pro-actively with regards to benefits.
However from our own experience we know this is not always the case and sometimes staff are violating the rules,
for example after you have lodged a complaint about their behaviour previously.
We now have literally a forum to make faulty practices visible to the general public.
