We can help with extra money for the children in your care
If you’re caring for a child who is experiencing difficulties or showing promise in a particular area, we may be able to help.

We’ve supported thousands of kids to develop their skills and talents through the Extraordinary Care Fund and it could help the child in your care too.

What is the Extraordinary Care Fund?
The Extraordinary Care Fund is a payment for the children you get Orphan’s Benefit or Unsupported Child Benefit for and you don’t need to pay the money back.

We can help pay for things like technology, sport and art activities and in some cases extra tuition and teacher aides – plus lots of other things.

If you’re not sure about an activity we encourage you to apply so we can consider it. If we can’t help we’ll let you know why and if there are other ways we can help.

    Apply by 21 June
If you’re caring for more than one child, you can apply for a grant for each child. You can get one grant of up to $2,000 each financial year (1 July-30 June).

Applying for just sports or art activities costing less than $1,000
Drop off your form and something that says how much it costs, like a quote, receipt, invoice or letter, to a service centre near you. You don’t need an appointment.

    Applying for anything else
For all other costs, you also need to include proof of how the item or activity will help the child. This could be a letter of support from a teacher, coach or doctor.

Click here for all the information you need to know before you apply or call us on 0800 559 009. You can print the form from our website.

We want to give you, and the children you care for, all the support we can
There may be other ways we can help so please call if you’d like to talk with us.
